What are the guidelines on asking questions?

Written by admin on October 21, 2013

Asking relevant, specific, and clear questions helps you get the answers you’re looking for. Before asking, think about what you want to know and what kind of answer you need.

  • Relevant questions have to do with the problem at hand. Ask about a specific example, inquire about related topics, or encourage thought-provoking discussions about the topic.
  • Specific questions provide details about the problem that can direct your peers to understand exactly what you are trying to figure out.
  • Clear questions help your peers interpret your question correctly. This means that they understand your question and they can use the details you provided to give you a great answer.
