**Introduction**

In this chapter you will learn about rational expressions. You will learn how to simplify a rational expression and how to recognize all restrictions on the denominator. In addition, you will learn to perform the basic operations of addition and subtraction of rational expressions as well as how to determine the least common multiple for the given expressions. The operations of multiplication will also be included in this chapter. The chapter will conclude with the graphing of rational expressions.
