# Chapter 6: Addition and Subtraction of Fractions

## Introduction

In Math 6, the learning content is divided into Concepts. Each Concept is complete and whole providing focused learning on an indicated objective. Theme-based Concepts provide students with experiences that integrate the content of each Concept. Students are given opportunities to practice the skills of each Concept through real-world situations, examples, guided practice and independent practice sections. In this sixth chapter, Addition and Subtraction of Fractions, students will engage in many Concepts including rounding fractions and mixed numbers, adding fractions with like and unlike denominators, subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators, adding and subtracting mixed numbers, calculating elapsed time, box-and-whisker plots and problem solving.

Having completed this chapter, students are now ready to move on to Chapter Seven.
