In CK-12 Middle School Math Concepts – Grade 6, the learning content is divided into concepts. Each concept is complete and provides focused learning on an indicated objective. Theme-based concepts provide students with experiences that integrate the content of each concept. Students are given opportunities to practice the skills of each concept through real-world situations, examples, guided practice and explore more practice. There are also video links provided to give students an audio/visual way of connecting with the content.

    This chapter covers: how to multiply decimals and whole numbers, the distributive property, how to multiply and divide decimals by whole numbers, how to multiply decimal powers of ten, how to divide by decimals, metric units of mass and capacity, and how to convert metric units.

  • 5. Number Patterns and Fractions

    Includes information about number patterns and fractions, including prime factorization, greatest common factors, equivalent fractions, least common multiples, ordering fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions, converting decimals to fractions, and converting fractions to decimals

  • 6. Addition and Subtraction of Fractions

    Includes information on fractions, including fraction estimation, adding and subtracting fractions with like or different denominators, adding and subtracting mixed numbers, subtracting mixed numbers by renaming, understanding elapsed time, box and whisker plots, and a problem solving strategy involving drawing a diagram.

  • 7. Multiplication and Division of Fractions

    This chapter covers: how to multiply fractions and whole numbers, how to multiply fractions, how to multiply mixed numbers, how to divide fractions, how to divide mixed numbers, customary units for weight and capacity, and how to convert customary units.

    Includes information about ratios, proportions, and percents, including rates, solving proportions, scale drawings, finding the percent of a number, and using a proportion in a problem solving strategy

  • 9. Geometric Figures

    Includes information about geometric figures, including geometry, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, congruent and similar figures, line symmetry, and problem solving using a Venn diagram

  • 10. Geometry and Measurement

    This chapter covers: the area of parallelograms, area of triangles, circumference of circles, area of circles, classifying solid figures, surface area and volume of prisms, surface area and volume of cylinders.

  • 11. Integers

    Includes information about integers, including comparing integers, adding and subtracting integers, multiplying and dividing integers, the coordinate plane, transformations, surveys, and data displays

  • 12. Equations and Functions

    Presents information about equations, functions, and probability, including writing expressions and equations, solving equations using addition and subtraction, solving equations using multiplication and division, an introduction to functions and graphing functions, an introduction to probability, finding outcomes, and understanding the probability of independent events
