Disease in which, either the body does not produce enough insulin, or the cells in the body do not respond to insulin; it causes high blood sugar.

insulin

Hormone that helps cells take up sugar from the blood.

Type 1 diabetes

Disease in which the immune system attacks normal cells of the pancreas, preventing the production of insulin.

Type 2 diabetes
