1.2: Organization of the Content

There are two major sections to this FlexBook® digital resource:

  • Fundamental Ideas in Modeling and Simulation
  • An Appendix of Lesson Plans

The “Fundamental Ideas” section addresses various aspects of modeling and simulation in science and engineering, such as its breadth of use, some of its limits, numerical and computer issues in doing modeling and simulation, and a range of modeling and simulation methodologies. The “Appendix” contains several detailed lesson plans for teaching modeling and simulation in the context of a variety of content. Each lesson plan is explicitly aligned with national science standards.
