Geocaching is an outdoor activity done for fun and exploration. Geocaches may be easy or difficult to find. Some are so hard to find they may be called evil. The geocoin above is trackable.

Why It Matters

  • Geocaching is a game that began when the Global Positioning System was opened to civilian users.
  • Caches are rated for difficulty. Some are easy to find storage containers. Others may be incredibly difficult to find. Placing a cache can be an act of creativity.
  • Geocaching can be done anyplace there is a geocache. There are more than 2 million worldwide.
  • Some caches have small treasures. You can take something as long as you leave something of equal or greater value in the cache.

Can You Apply It?

  2. How do you navigate to the location of a geocache?
  3. Go to the Geocaching website. Enter your current location into “Search for Nearby Geocaches.” How many geocaches are located one mile or closer to you?
  4. Once you’re in the vicinity, how do you find the geocache?
  5. When should you take a Travel Bug from a geocache? What should you do with it?
