Both of these boys have the same exact name. They were born at exactly the same time to exactly the same parents. Both boys live in exactly the same room in exactly the same house. However, they are not the same boy. How could that be?

Amazing But True!

For example, let's say the boy on the left is 5-years old and the boy on the right is 15. Although most people would argue that they are the same boy, in at least one respect they are not the same boy at all. What happened in the 10 years between when the photos were taken? Science has uncovered something astonishing about what happens to us over time. In fact, science has uncovered a lot of amazing facts!

Show What You Know

With the link below, learn just a few of the amazing facts science has uncovered. Then answer the following questions.

  1. Why is the boy in both of the photos not the same boy?
  2. Why do scientists say that trees grow out of air?
  3. If you go back in geologic time, will you run into a Tyrannosaurus, Cleopatra, a Stegosaurus or Egyptians building pyramids first? If you continue back in time, which will you run into second, third and then last?
  4. Not including the three facts already presented in the three questions above, which fact blew your mind the most?
