Climate and Biomes
An area's climate is largely determined by its average temperature and precipitation.
A biome is determined by an area's climate and its living things.
A microclimate is a small area within a larger area in which the climate differs from that of the larger area.
Altitude, or the elevation above sea level, mimics latitude. Explain why this allows microclimates to have similar climates to climate zones very much unlike its surrounding climate.
Types of Climate Groups
There are five major classifications of climate groups as defined by the Köppen classification. Fill out the following table with information about the five groups. This reference may be helpful.
