Too Cool!

Have you ever been iceskating, skiing, snowboarding, or played in the snow in general? If you have, you’ve already experienced freezing. Freezing is simply the change of an element from the state of liquid to the state of solid. This happens when kinetic energy is lost by atoms and they lose excitement.Inversely, if  kinetic energy is increased, the particles become excited and turn back into liquid.

Imagine the last day of school. A few minutes before the bell, everybody is rigid in their seats waiting for the bell. The minute the bell rings everybody gets up and runs out the door. The change from the rigid state to the flowing state is the change from a solid with bonds, to a liquid with a flowing nature.

The point at which these bonds break is called the freezing point. Different elements have different freezing points.
