We live in a very volatile world where energy consumption is always an issue for all countries.  People are looking outside oil to find viable alternatives for clean energy, such as solar power and nuclear power. There is also hydroelectric power, and signs of it can be seen everywhere.  If you have been to the Hoover Dam, then you have definitely seen how water can be put into use.

Creative Appications

  1. Research and watch the video.  How does the water get converted into energy?
  2. Why are transformers needed at the dam?
  3. How much power can a dam, such as the Hoover Dam, provide?
  4. What are advantages of hydroelectric power? What are downsides to hydroelectric power? (Hint: think ecological)
