Simple Harmonic Motion

Objects that vibrate or oscillate are said to have simple harmonic motion, or SHM. Name everyday objects that exhibit SHM.

When an object that is attatched to a spring (therefore having a harmonic motion), and is at rest, it is said to be at the equilibrium position. If the object is pushed or pulled, the spring will exert what type of force?

F=-kx

Above is the equation for the force exerted by a spring when stretched a distance x. What does variable k represent?

Four words describe characterisitcs about SHM. Define them below.

Hint: Two of them are found in the equation f=\frac{1}{T}.
