Find an unknown angle of a side side side triangle using the Law of Cosines
This lesson covers using the Law of Cosines to find an angle in a triangle.
A friend is throwing a party in her backyard and wants your help setting up lights for the table, dance floor, and stage. She has 3 outlets, and each light has a 5 foot cord, which can be placed anywhere on a 5 foot radius. She then wants to hang streamers between the lights.
Drag the red points to see different possibilities of light placement. Make sure the light beams go through the center points of each object!
Your friend only has 35 ft. of streamers. Help her set up the lights.
Gives an example of using the Law of Cosines to find the measure of the largest angle of a triangle, given the lengths of all three sides.
