Flexi Says: Bacteria can come in a variety of colors such as purple, yellow, red, etc. Most bacterial colonies appear white or creamy yellow in color. Bacteria called cyanobacteria are very important. They are bluish-green in color (see Figure below) because they contain chlorophyll (but not chloroplasts, of course).
