Flexi Says: Heart valves make sure that blood moves in one direction through the heart. But some people’s heart valves become leaky due to congenital conditions like bicuspid aortic valve or due to rheumatic heart diseas. This condition is called valve regurgitation or insufficiency. Regurgitation causes the heart to work harder and this eventually leads to ventricular hypertrophy (baggy ventricles) and insufficient amount of blood pumped by the heart.
