Flexi Says: Male reproductive organs (recall that these were housed in herbaceous cones in gymnosperms) are streamlined to become lightweight, easily modified stamens (Figure below). Stalks (filaments) of variable heights support anthers, which contain four microsporangia (pollen sacs). Within the pollen sacs, meiosis produces microspores, which become male gametophytes enclosed within durable pollen grains.
