Flexi Says: Jackrabbits are in the same genus as hares. Although they are in the same family as rabbits, they have some unique features. Unlike regular rabbits, hares and jackrabbits are precocial, meaning they are born with fur and fully opened eyes. Soon after birth, they can move around and fend for themselves. Jackrabbits are also larger, stronger, and faster than most rabbits. Black-tailed jackrabbits are commonly found in hot, dry environments of the southwestern United States.
