Flexi Says: Plants are multicellular organisms. The number of cells in a plant varies by species, which range from simple mosses to giant redwood trees. Large plants like trees contain trillions of cells. However, there are three basic types of cells build most plants. Parenchymal cells make up the bulk of plant tissue. Collenchymal cells are elongated, with irregularly thickened primary walls, and they provide support, especially for growing shoots. Sclerenchymal cells strengthen and support parts of the plant which have completed elongation.
