Flexi Says: The law of multiple proportions explains the formation of many types of binary compounds as there are only limited number of possible proportions in which two given elements can be combined to result in a stable compound. For example H and O can only combine to for H2O or H2O2. However, the law does not hold good for when two elements combine to form long chains or complex molecules.
