Flexi Says: Scientists are searching for ways to create controlled nuclear fusion reactions on Earth. Their goal is to develop nuclear fusion power plants, where the energy from the fusion of hydrogen nuclei can be converted to electricity. In a thermonuclear reactor, radiation from fusion is used to heat water and produce steam. The steam can then be used to turn a turbine and generate electricity. In the ITER megaproject, around 35 nations have collaborated to create a device that can produce energy from nuclear fusion. The ITER reactor will have the capacity to produce 500 megawatts of fusion power from 50 megawatts of input heating power.
