Flexi Says: The single bonds consist of one sigma bond, double bonds consist of one sigma and one pi bond, and triple bonds consist of one sigma and two pi bonds. Note that double bonds are less than twice as strong as a single bond between the same two atoms. Since sigma bonds are “better” (stronger) than pi bonds, a combination of one sigma and one pi is slightly weaker than adding two sigma bonds together.
