Flexi Says: The world's largest earthquake with highest magnitude is documented instrumentally on May 22, 1960 near Valdivia, in southern Chile. It had a magnitude of 9.5 recorded by the United States Geological Survey. It is known as the Great Chilean Earthquake or the Valdivia Earthquake. Other large earthquake recorded include Great Alaska Earthquake in 1964, and Indian Ocean Earthquake 2004 which recorded magnitude above 9.0 on Richter magnitude scale.
