Flexi Says: The interior of Earth is hot partly because of the radioactive materials present in the core. When the radioactive elements decay, they release heat that rises and heats the material in the mantle. As the partially melted mantle material continues to rise to the surface, it cools, eventually sinks back down to the hot core, and then rises again, creating a continuous convection cycle.
