Flexi Says: Coquina is type of limestone made up almost entirely of shell fragments of ancient mollusks and other marine invertebrates. The shells built up in thick layers in ancient marine environments. Over time, they were buried and formed into sedimentary rock. Coquina is fairly rare, but is common in the US state of Florida.
