Flexi Says:
Mars' crust and mantle are roughly similar in composition to Earth's crust and mantle. Both layers in both planets are made of rocks rich in silicate minerals. Mars has more iron in both its crust and mantle compared to Earth. The crust on Mars consists mostly of volcanic basalt. Its mantle consists of an ultramafic rock, peridotite, similar to Earth's mantle but with greater concentrations of iron.
