Flexi Says: The bathroom on the International Space Station makes use of vacuum suction to collect human waste. The toilet is designed to sit on similar to a western style toilet on Earth. However, the space bathroom creates a seal when the astronaut sits, and the waste is suctioned away. There is a standing option for urinating that uses a smaller hose suction. Urine is collected and the water content is recycled for use on the space station. Solid waste is packed and removed from the space station by small cargo ships and burned up in Earth's atmosphere.
