How many solar systems are there in the Milky Way?

Flexi Says:
Our planetary system is called the solar system because the astronomical name of our Sun is Sol. The solar system is just one of a vast number of planetary systems. Astronomers estimate that the Milky Way contains 200 billion to 400 billion stars, and the majority of these stars likely have planetary systems. However, the process for observing and discovering planets around other stars (exoplanets) is relatively new. So far, scientists have officially discovered 3,200 planetary systems.
